Oh, brother.
Not satisfied with having one Heyward, the Steelers went out and drafted another, reuniting Connor Heyward with his older brother, Cameron, a five-time Pro Bowler and Pittsburgh’s longest-tenured player. Seeing time at both the running back and tight end positions, the sixth-round pick contributed 1,536 yards (825 rushing, 711 receiving) and 11 touchdowns over five seasons at Michigan State.

With Heyward added to the fold, the Steelers now have four sets of brothers on their roster. That includes TJ and Derek Watt, Terrell and Trey Edmunds and twins Khalil and Carlos Davis. The Watt and Edmunds siblings, believe it or not, both have brothers playing elsewhere in the NFL (JJ and Tremaine, respectively). Those are some truly remarkable genes.
From the looks of it, the Heywards can’t wait to play together in Pittsburgh, with Cam, who is 10 years Connor’s senior, suggesting the two could room together like they did growing up in Georgia. The brothers obviously come from strong football bloodlines, with their father Craig (who passed away from cancer in 2006) spending 11 seasons in the NFL as a fullback for the Saints, Bears, Falcons, Rams and Colts.
Coach Mike Tomlin clearly believes in family, making a concerted effort to keep both Heywards under one roof. As they say, blood is thicker than water.
