Retirement apparently was a very real possibility for Aaron Rodgers this offseason.

The Packers legend stopped any doubt or speculation about his future Tuesday, as he agreed to a huge four-year deal to return to Green Bay. Pat McAfee first broke the news because, well, he heard it straight from the horse’s mouth.

Rodgers and McAfee are tight. And during the “Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, McAfee tried to be coy about who his source was before ultimately admitting it was Rodgers. He then offered some details on their conversation.

“Aaron said after a lot of contemplation of potential retirement, after a lot of contemplation about what the future looks like, this morning he felt he was ready to make the actual announcement," McAfee said. "And he said, ‘Hey, why don’t you let the people know that I am officially returning to the Green Bay Packers.'”

The Rodgers saga last season dragged out for months. Now, he seems as committed to the Packers as ever.
