Cleveland, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Antonio Callaway was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s 19-16 nail-biter over the Bills.

Check that, he was benched by head coach Freddie Kitchens, who declined to elaborate on the specifics that led to the decision.

“That is between Antonio and I,” Kitchens. “That is between Antonio and I.”

Callaway, who has 8 catches for 89 yards this season, was a surprise listing on the team's inactive report prior to kickoff. Kitchens' tone indicated that Callaway was sat for disciplinary reasons.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield didn’t spend much time worrying about the decision.

“Flush it,” Mayfield, who completed 26 of 38 passes 238 yards and a pair of touchdowns, said. “Be able to say next man up mentality. Things that I have said before. We are counting on somebody else to step up and make a play for us. Whoever that is, they need to know that.

“Obviously, he was going to be a part of the gameplan but things happen, and Ratley was able to come in, step up and be active for us.”

As it turns out, Rashard Higgins ended up making the most important catch of the day, a 7-yard touchdown that ended up winning the game with less than 2 minutes to play.
