At Oklahoma.
OU Daily reported Friday that the University is seeking bids to honor the 2017 Heisman trophy winner. Oklahoma plans to also erect a statue for Kyler Murray, who won the Heisman in 2018.
Oklahoma hopes to unveil Mayfield’s statue next spring and Murray’s in the spring of 2021.
Mayfield, who became the sixth in school history to win the Heisman, started 39 of 40 games for the Sooners where he threw for 14,607 yards and 131 touchdowns while rushing for an additional 1,083 yards for his career.
Mayfield finished second in FBS history in passing efficiency, third in yards per attempt, tied for fourth in touchdown passes, fifth in total offense and seventh in passing yardage. Mayfield set an FBS record for consecutive games with at least two touchdowns in his first 27 games played.
