CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The 2020 Browns schedule is out and so it’s time to highlight our favorite games.
Here are our seven favorites on the docket this fall.
Week 1: Sept. 13 at Baltimore, 1 p.m. CBS
The Browns travel to face the two-time defending AFC North champions as well as the reigning NFL MVP in Lamar Jackson where they'll try to end a 15-year Week 1 winless streak. Cleveland is a pathetic 1-19-1 in openers since 1999. The only 1-0 start to a season came in 2004, at home against the Ravens. A win would mark just the second time ever the Browns won two straight games at M&T Bank Stadium after crushing them 40-25 in Week 4 last year.
Week 2: Sept. 17 vs. Bengals, 8:20 p.m. NFL Network
Two divisional games in four days will pose quite the challenge for Kevin Stefanski and his team as No. 1 pick Joe Burrow and the Bengals come to Cleveland to kick off the home portion of the schedule in prime time. It will mark the first time since 1999 and eighth time ever that Cleveland opens its home schedule with a night game. The Browns have won their past two Thursday night games are 5-2 at home on Thursday nights.
Week 4: Oct. 4 at Dallas, 1 p.m. FOX
There will be a lot of star power (pardon the awful pun) on the field at AT&T Stadium. Dak Prescott vs Baker Mayfield. Will Nick Chubb outrun Ezekiel Elliott? Odell Beckham Jr., Amari Cooper. Need we say more? This is a game we felt should have been earmarked for Thanksgiving, but we’ll have to settle for early October instead.
Week 6: Oct. 18 at Pittsburgh, 1 p.m. CBS
Myles Garrett will face the Steelers for the first time since ripping Mason Rudolph’s helmet off and clubbing the quarterback in the head with it last November and later alleging Rudolph uttered a racial slur that prompted his reaction. While Garrett has paid his debt in the eyes of the NFL, this will be the storyline that will dominate headlines during the week leading up to the game.
Week 14: Dec. 4 vs. Ravens, 8:15 p.m. ESPN
This Week 1 rematch is the finale of the toughest stretch of the season that will see the Browns play four 2019 playoff teams in five weeks, and they’ll make their second home prime time appearance of the year.
Week 15: Dec. 20 at New York Giants, 1 p.m. CBS
Odell Beckham Jr. returns to the Big Apple, sort of with MetLife Stadium being in New Jersey, to face his former team. There will be plenty of drama and headlines leading up to this one so mark your calendars.
Week 17: Jan. 3 vs. Steelers, 1 p.m. CBS
This is the 10th time the two teams finish the regular season against each other but just the fourth time it will happen in Cleveland. With the playoff field expanded this year, this game has flex to Sunday Night Football written all over it.
