Cincinnati, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Bruce Arians would like to coach the Cleveland Browns.
And only the Cleveland Browns.
Arians told NFL Media that Cleveland is the only team he’d consider coming out of retirement to run.
"I would listen to the Browns," Arians said via NFL.com. "And only them."
Arians made similar comments to the Canton Repository three weeks ago when he was in town to call the Browns-Chiefs game for CBS.
Arians, who served as the Browns offensive coordinator under Butch Davis from 2001-2003, has had his eye on the Browns for years, but despite the many times the head coach job has been open, he’s never landed his dream job.
"I've always loved Cleveland," Arians told NFL.com. "The fans, shoot, one of the best groups in the league and when I called their game this past year, I got that feeling about them."
Browns general manager John Dorsey is free to interview Arians at any time because he is not employed by an NFL club. The question is, will he?
NFL.com also reported that Arians would keep Freddie Kitchens as his offensive coordinator and would also consider keeping Gregg Williams too.
Hue, again – Former Browns head coach Hue Jackson was on the field early Sunday morning walking and running multiple laps around the field long before the gates opened and players warmed up.
Jackson, who joined Marvin Lewis’ staff as a special assistant two weeks after he was fired by the Browns on Oct. 29 along with offensive coordinator Todd Haley, briefly shook hands with owner Jimmy Haslam on Cleveland’s sideline.
Jackson greeted several players – including Baker Mayfield and Tyrod Taylor – and members of his former staff with handshakes and hugs while he pacing back and forth near midfield between them.
Safety Jabrill Peppers appeared to be the only one not really interested in a reunion. It looked as if Peppers said something to Jackson, prompting Jackson to point to Cleveland’s end of the field.
Put up or shut up – Bengals receiver A.J. Green is inactive Sunday meaning Browns safety Damarious Randall has some work to do.
Friday afternoon Randall said if Green did not play, “they’re getting their ass beat.”
The Browns are looking to end a 25-game road losing streak.
Beat up Bengals – Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is also inactive. Cincinnati’s defense, which ranks at the bottom in most categories, has been ravaged by injury with three more players put on IR this week.
The injuries should allow rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield as well as running backs Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson to feast.
The team listed six lineup changes including at left tackle with starter Cordy Glenn out and Jake Fisher starting in his place.
Robinson at LT – Desmond Harrison is inactive once again meaning that Greg Robinson starts at left tackle for a third straight game.
Williams is sticking with Robinson, who was drafted second overall in 2014 by the Rams when he was their defensive coordinator.
