CLEVELAND, Ohio – Carlos Santana is one of three finalists to start at first base for the American League in the MLB All-Star Game on July 9.
He's the only Indians player who still has a chance to start in the game, which will be played at Progressive Field.
Fans have the opportunity to vote in MLB's Election Day, which starts Wednesday at noon and ends on Thursday at 4 p.m.
The leading vote-getters at each position will represent their respective league in the All-Star Game. C.J. Cron of the Twins and Luke Voit of the Yankees are the other two finalists at first base.
There are two ways to vote during the 28-hour period:
1) On MLB platforms, including MLB.com and Indians.com. MLB moble apps work as well.
2) Fans can enter a players name via Google Search, which will direct you to that players section of the ballot. If you're only worried about voting for Santana, simply search his name in Google and you'll be able to do your part in getting him into the All-Star Game.
Runners-up aren’t automatically selected to play in the game, so finalists aren't guaranteed a spot in the ‘Midsummer Classic.’
Santana, 33, has posted a .290 batting average with 18 home runs and 48 RBI this season. He leads the Indians in most major hitting statistics including homers, hits, RBI, on-base percentage, OPS and slugging percentage. He's never appeared in an All-Star Game.
