CLEVELAND, OH – The White Sox scored four runs in the eighth inning thanks to a 3-run homer from James McCann that helped them beat the Indians 6-5 on Tuesday night.
Chicago struggled to hit the ball against Indians’ starter Mike Clevinger, who allowed two runs and two hits in seven innings. Unfortunately for the Tribe, the White Sox got hot in the eighth inning against Carlos Carrasco, who was pitching at Progressive Field for the first time since May 25.
He was placed on the injured list on June 5 after being diagnosed with leukemia. He returned to the mound on Sunday in Tampa Bay.
Carrasco allowed two singles to start the inning, before striking out Jose Abreu and Yoan Moncada. That’s when McCann hit the 3-run homer to tie the game 5-5. Eloy Jiménez followed that up with his second home run of the night, which gave the White Sox a 6-5 lead.
