Cleveland, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns placed linebacker Christian Kirksey on injured reserve Saturday morning.
Kirksey, voted a team captain for the third straight year, suffered a chest injury in Monday night’s 23-3 win over the Jets in New York.
Rookie linebacker Mack Wilson will assume Kirksey's spot in the starting lineup. To take Kirksey’s spot on the roster the team signed linebacker Willie Harvey from the practice squad.
Because two players can be designated to return, depending if Kirksey has surgery or how the injury heals, Kirksey could return in eight weeks, meaning he’d be eligible to play Nov. 24 against Miami.
On Friday, tight end David Njoku was placed on injured reserve after breaking his wrist in the first quarter against the Jets.
The Browns replaced Harvey by re-signing running back Elijah McGuire to the practice squad.
