Cleveland, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – It wasn’t pretty, but it still counts.
The Browns rallied late and survived thanks to an errant field goal try in the closing seconds to beat the Buffalo Bills 19-16 and end their 4-game losing streak.
Before the Steelers roll in Thursday night, here are our game balls:
Nick Chubb – Chubb churned out 116 yards on the ground on 20 carries – that’s 5.8 a carry. He had runs of 24, 21 twice and 16 yards. Although he was stopped cold multiple times inside the 5, the Browns don’t win without Chubb.
Kareem Hunt – Hunt ran 4 times for 30 yards and caught 7 of 9 targets for 44 more in his Browns debut. As impressive as he was with the ball, he was dominant in the blocking game without it. He showed up in the box score and showed his unselfishness on film.
Baker Mayfield – Mayfield played one of his best games of the season Sunday completing 26 of 38 passes for 238 yards. He is the first quarterback this season to throw multiple touchdown passes against the Bills’ defense and he avoided throwing an interception for the second consecutive week. Mayfield registered his best quarterback rating of the season – 102.7 in the victory.
Jarvis Landry – Landry is the heartbeat of this team. He caught 9 of 10 targets for 97 yards, including his second touchdown reception of the season. His 24-yard catch late helped set up the game-winning TD toss.
Rashard Higgins – Higgins was targeted once Sunday, and he caught it. It could be the catch that salvages the season. Time will determine how significant of a catch it was but the 7-yard score with 1:44 left put the Browns in front for good and potentially might have moved him out of the doghouse.
Chad Thomas – The 2018 third-round pick, who had seemed like a forgotten man, stepped in for Olivier Vernon and he stepped up with a solid effort. Thomas registered 2 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, a sack and QB hit in the win.
