Veteran quarterback Case Keenum agreed to a three-year deal worth $18 million, including $10 million guaranteed, Monday.
The agreement was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Keenum reunites with head coach Kevin Stefanski, who coached him in Minnesota during the 2017 season, in Cleveland where he will be called upon to mentor Mayfield.
“It’s never bad having a veteran presence in there,” new tight end Austin Hooper, who agreed to a four-year, $42 million contract with the Browns Monday, said in an exclusive interview with Bull and Fox on 92.3 The Fan. “Even with Matt Ryan there was Matt Schaub, an older, more experienced quarterback. So, it’s always good to have an older guy in the offense who has been bred in the system and understands everything within the system.”
Keenum, now a nine-year veteran who has bounced around six teams, spent last season with Washington where he started eight of the 10 games he appeared in and completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,707 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions.
