Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Unable to find a taker for Darren Fells, the Browns cut the tight end on Monday.
Officially, the team terminated his contract after failing to trade the veteran.
The move comes less than a week after the Browns cut linebacker Jamie Collins, a move that saved another $9.5 million in cap space, and traded for Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon that cost them right guard Kevin Zeitler.
The Browns signed Fells to a three-year, $12 million deal last year as a free agent from Detroit.
Fells appeared in all 16 games with 11 starts that saw him record 11 catches for 117 yards and three touchdowns.
