Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns interviewed their third head coaching candidate in 3 days Thursday as team officials sat down with Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski.

The team confirmed the completion of the interview Thursday evening.

Stefanski was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator with 3 weeks left in the season when John DeFilippo was fired by Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer on Dec. 11.

Stefanski’s contract expires at season’s end and former Browns head coach Hue Jackson has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Zimmer and the Vikings should he not get the Bengals head coaching job. Jackson, who went 3-36-1 with the Browns prior to being fired on Oct. 29, 2017, interviewed with Cincinnati for their head coaching job on Wednesday.

Stefanski has been with the Vikings since 2006 and is the longest tenured coach on the staff having worked for 3 different head coaches. He has served as a running backs as well as tight ends coach previously.

Interim head coach Gregg Williams was the first to interview on Tuesday and former Colts and Lions head coach Jim Caldwell interviewed on Wednesday.

The Browns were reportedly scheduled to interview former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy Thursday, but that interview has been pushed to next week according to ESPN to make way for Stefanski on Thursday.

Cleveland is expected to interview Saints tight ends coach/assistant head coach Dan Campbell and Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores later this week and weekend.

The Browns are not commenting on any scheduled interviews.
