Odell Beckham Jr. says hip issue hasn’t gone away

Berea, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Someone call a mechanic.

Odell Beckham Jr. needs a tune-up.

With his custom orange Rolls Royce, which was delivered earlier in the day, sitting next to the practice fields, the Browns’ prolific receiver admitted Thursday that he’s still not quite feeling like himself heading into Sunday’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans.

“This is something I've never had to deal with,” Beckham said. “It's like an extremely fast car with like a little alignment or something off. And it's right in the center of what you need. Now, the car can still go, but it's dangerous, you know what I mean? So, it's just something I've been trying to figure out, in and out of rehab every single day. Never really dealt with anything like that.”

Beckham was held out of the preseason and team drills for the latter part of training camp due to what the team called a minor hip injury.

While it might be minor, it’s still a problem.

“With what I’ve had going on, just been kind of afraid to just open up,” Beckham said. “I’d rather get to Sunday and open up than running around and hindering myself before the game.”

The three-time Pro Bowler, who has missed 16 games over the previous two years, declined to get into specifics about the injury.

And he’s not even sure how it happened.

“It's getting better,” Beckham said. “It's as good as it's going to be until the season starts. It's something that hopefully that keeps progressing and gets better and not worse, but it's just something you have to deal with.

“We have a game Sunday, so it's time to go play.”

Beckham was added to the Browns’ injury report Thursday, but he was a full participant in practice.

He expects to fully participate Sunday as well.

“I'll be running as fast as I can run,” Beckham said. “If that's not a hundred [percent], I feel confident in myself that wherever I'm at, I'll be ready to play with whatever I got.”
