Browns to unveil new uniforms Wednesday, proceeds to benefit COVID-19 relief

CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns began teasing their new uniform release late last week and on Monday announced the unveiling will occur Wednesday at noon.

In conjunction with the uniform release, the team also launched a ‘Hats off to our heroes fund’ to benefit those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The entire Cleveland Browns organization is inspired by the significant sacrifices being made by those heroes every day, and now it’s our turn to do our part,” Browns owners Dee Haslam said in a video posted on the team’s website.

Net proceeds from the sales of the new jerseys at FirstEnergy Stadium’s Pro Shop will go to the fund.

“We want the fabric of these jerseys that have always united us as one team to symbolize our coming together as one community,” Dee Haslam said. “Let’s unite together and help the true heroes.”

The fund will provide financial assistance to healthcare workers, teaching professionals and first responders who are sacrificing significantly to keep the public safe during the pandemic.

“When finalizing our uniform announcement, we realized we had an incredible opportunity to further our support of heroes battling COVID-19 on the front lines for our entire community,” executive vice president JW Johnson said. “We hope the excitement surrounding the new uniforms can help make a significant impact through the ‘Hats Off to Our Heroes’ Fund, and we greatly appreciate the support from our fans, retail partners and team to make this special way to give back to those leaders possible.”

Last month the Browns ownership group announced a $1.5 million donation to COVID-9 relief efforts in Cleveland and Columbus.
