Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Cavaliers are 'closing in' on a deal that would send Alec Burks to the Houston Rockets
according to Sam Amico. That report surfaced after Jason Lloyd of The Athletic
reported that the Cavaliers' talks with Houston were progressing.
Lloyd says the Rockets would send Brandon Knight and their 2019 first-round pick to Cleveland in the deal. Burks, 27, is making $11.5 million this season and is in the final year of his contract. He's averaging 11.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists since joining the Cavaliers in November.
"I don't believe in rumors until something happens," Burks said after scoring 21 points in the Cavs' loss to Boston on Tuesday. "If nothing happens then I'm not going nowhere. If something happens, it happens. I enjoyed my time here and hopefully it keeps going."
The Cavaliers traded Kyle Korver for Burks and two second-round picks. If they can turn Korver into three draft picks, including a 2019 first-round pick, it would be a major win for general manager Koby Altman.
Alykhan Bijani of The Athletic says the Rockets continue to negotiate with other teams about a similar deal.
As @ByJasonLloyd said, #Rockets are engaged with the Cavs on a trade involving Alec Burks for Brandon Knight and a 1st-round pick.A league source just told me that Houston remains in talks with other teams around the league, offering the same package of Knight + 2019 first. https://t.co/byNOdHyK29
