Plawecki, 27, has posted a .218 batting average in four major league seasons. He made 79 appearances for the Mets last year, finished with a .210 average, seven home runs and 30 RBI.
Plawecki spent six weeks last season on the disabled list with a broken left hand. He threw out 23 percent (16 for 70) of potential base stealers and had two four-RBI games. He was a first-round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft and has spent his entire seven-year career with the Mets organization.
