Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Indians avoided arbitration with shortstop Francisco Lindor after reaching an agreement with the All-Star for the 2019 season the team announced on Friday.

They agreed to a $10.55 million contract according to Zack Meisel of The Athletic. Lindor, 25, posted a .277 batting average, hit 38 home runs and had 98 RBI last season. The club didn't reach a deal with Trevor Bauer, which means he will go to arbitration.

The Indians also announced they claimed pitcher A.J. Cole from the New York Yankees. Cole, 27, spent most of 2018 with the New York Yankees, posting a 4.26 ERA in 28 relief appearances. He allowed 18 earned runs in 38 innings and struck out 11.6 batters per nine innings.
