Carlos Santana extended the Indians’ lead in the sixth inning with a solo home run, his 32nd of the season. Santana hit 34 homers (career-high) in 2016.

Reyes finished 2-4 on the day. He's hitting .302 with six home runs and 17 RBI in his last 19 games.

The White Sox threatened in the seventh inning, loading the bases with just one out. Nick Goody issued two walks and allowed one hit in ⅓ of an inning. Adam Cimber saved the day by getting Eloy Jimenez to ground into a double play. The Tribe scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning to put the game away.

The Indians improve to 80-58 on the season. They’re 5½ games behind the Twins in the AL Central.

Another Injury

Roberto Perez left Monday’s game with a left foot contusion. He finished 2-for-3 on the night. He fouled a ball off of his foot earlier in the game. Perez has a .224 batting average with 21 home runs and 50 RBI this season.

Jason Kipnis didn’t play on Monday due to tendinitis in his right wrist. The Indians expect him to be available on Tuesday and hope he can return to the lineup mid-week. Mike Freeman took his place at second base.

Cheering On His Team

Outfielder Tyler Naquin was in attendance on Monday night. The Indians outfielder suffered a torn ACL last week. Naquin smiled and waived to the crowd while he was shown on the video board in the fifth inning.
