CLEVELAND, OH – The Indians' revamped lineup didn’t take the field on Wednesday night, but it certainly looked like it did. Cleveland hit three 3-run homers in their 10-4 win over the Astros.

Roberto Perez hit two homers in one game for the first time in his career. He had four RBI on the night, including a three-run shot in the second inning.

Carlos Santana gave the Indians a 6-4 lead with a three-run homer of his own in the fifth inning. He’s second on the team with 23 home runs on the season. Newcomer Franmil Reyes has 27 this year and is expected to join the team on Thursday.

Jason Kipnis put the game out of reach in the sixth inning with his ninth home run of the year, the Indians’ final 3-run blast of the night that gave Cleveland a 10-4 lead. The 32-year-old flipped his bat and admired the homer, as cheers came roaring down from the fans at Progressive Field.

Starter Zach Plesac allowed four runs and six hits in five innings of work. He finished with three walks and three strikeouts. His ERA rose to 3.41. He improves to 6-3.

The Indians knew they needed more power in their lineup, which is why they acquired Yasiel Puig and Reyes at the deadline. They didn’t need their new teammates on Wednesday night. Both Reyes and Puig are expected to be in the lineup on Thursday.

The Indians finished with 11 hits on the night. They only had two hits in Tuesday’s loss to the Astros.

Cleveland improves to 62-44 on the season. It was the first time they hit three 3-run homers in the same game since August 27, 2010.

Up Next – Danny Salazar makes his first start in nearly two years. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2017 ALDS. Gerrit Cole is on the mound for Houston. He’s 12-5 on the season with a 2.94 ERA.
