CLEVELAND, OH – The Indians’ new lineup didn’t waste any time in their second game together. They scored at least one run in each of the first three innings in a 7-3 win over the Angels.

The Indians first five batters reached base and they had four hits in a row, finishing with four runs in the first inning. They added two more in the second and another in the third.

The Indians finished with 12 hits total. Every starter had at least one hit except Franmil Reyes and Jordan Luplow. Francisco Lindor, Oscar Mercado, Yasiel Puig, Jason Kipnis and José Ramírez had two hits each.

Starter Mike Clevinger gave up a solo home run to Mike Trout in the first inning, but recovered nicely, allowing just one run and three hits in 6⅓ innings. He finished with eight strikeouts and issued three walks. He improves to 6-2 on the season and his ERA fell to 3.07.

Clevinger got into some trouble in the seventh inning, allowing the first two batters to reach base. He forced Andrelton Simmons to groundout, which put runners on the corners with just one out.

Right-hander Nick Goody entered the game, as Clevinger’s night ended with one out in the seventh. Goody walked the first batter he faced to load the bases. He responded by getting Luis Rengifo to pop out to shallow left field and striking out Matt Thaiss.

Goody hasn’t allowed a run since June 23. That’s 15⅓ consecutive innings without giving up a run.

Adam Cimber allowed two hits and hit a batter in the ninth, as the Angels cut the lead to 7-3. Cimber responded by getting David Fletcher and Mike Trout to fly-out to end the game.

The Indians improve to 64-45. They’re 36-16 since June 1, which is the best record in baseball over that span.

Up Next – The Indians continue their home stand against the Angels. Adam Plutko is on the mound for the Tribe. He enters with a 4.83 ERA and a 3-2 record. He’ll go up against Felix Pena, who is 8-3 this season with a 4.66 ERA.
