Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor could miss up to three weeks with a sprained left ankle according to Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com. Lindor traveled to Green Bay on Monday to get his ankle re-evaluated by Dr. Robert Anderson.
He suffered the injury in a minor-league game on March 26. Lindor was rehabbing a calf strain that sidelined him all spring. Now the star shortstop is expected to miss most of April with this ankle sprain.
Hoynes says the Indians will wait until Wednesday to comment on the injury.
Eric Stamets and Max Moroff will continue to share duties at shortstop with Lindor out. The duo is off to a 1-for-15 start at the plate. Moroff did have a key RBI in Monday's win over Chicago.
Lindor, 25, posted a .277 batting average, finishing with 38 home runs and 92 RBI last season.
