Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Indians signed free agent reliever Justin Grimm to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Grimm, 30, battled injuries in 2018 and split time with Kansas City and Seattle. He allowed 20 runs in 17.1 innings pitched. Grimm played the best ball of his career in Chicago from 2013-2017 where he posted a 3.82 ERA for the Cubs.

This is a low-risk signing for the Indians. If he impresses, then maybe he'll make the Major League club. If not, they aren't committed to him. Grimm posted a 1.93 ERA in five September outings last season. The Indians hope that success continues into 2019.
