CLEVELAND, OH – The Indians completed a three-team trade that sent Trevor Bauer to Cincinnati and brought back five players on Tuesday. Francisco Lindor said losing Bauer was tough, but knew the lineup needed a boost.
“We only have one guy that has 20 home runs," Lindor said. "We’re winning without hitting home runs. We just play the game the right way. [Yasiel] Puig is going to add power. [Franmil] Reyes is going to add power."
Franmil Reyes has 27 home runs on the season. Yasiel Puig has 22 homers. Both players should give the Indians' lineup a jolt.
"At the same time, they're both going to do what we do here – put the ball in play, steal bases, go first-to-third," Lindor said.
It's the first time in Major League Baseball history that a team acquired two players with 20 or more home runs at the trade deadline.
Reyes and Puig are expected to arrive in Cleveland on Wednesday night and play in the series finale against the Astros on Thursday.
