CLEVELAND, Ohio – It was a quiet night for prospects Daniel Johnson and Nolan Jones, who represented the Indians organization in the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday night at Progressive Field. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Neither prospect had a hit, only getting one at-bat a piece, but they enjoyed the experience.

"It was a dream come true for sure," Jones said. "I really can't put it into words it was indescribable. I was shaking the whole time. I was out there, I had chills. I was thinking about how this could be my future home and I think that's the real part of it that makes me want it even more everyday."

Jones, 21, will join Double-A Akron when they return from the All-Star break on July 11. He’s the Indians second-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

Jones leads the Carolina League with an .860 OPS and has a .286/.435/.425 slash line with seven homers and 41 RBI in 77 games.

The Futures played after the Celebrity Softball Game that included Drew Carey, Jim Thome, Kenny Lofton, Travis Kelce, Joe Thomas and The Miz.

Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. was also in attendance for the game and met with both teams. There were plenty of celebrities at Progressive Field, but Jones was happy to meet reality television personality Colton Underwood, who appeared on the 23rd season of 'The Bachelor.'

"You're going to think I'm a clown, but The Bachelor from last year," Jones said with a laugh. "He's a pretty cool guy."

Johnson is the 22nd ranked prospect in the Indians organization. He has a .292 average, four home runs and 23 RBI in 38 games for Triple-A Columbus. He joined the Clippers midseason after mashing 10 homers and 33 RBI for Double-A Akron. The Indians acquired Johnson from the Nationals in November in exchange for Yan Gomes.

Johnson could be a big part of the Indians' future plans in the outfield. He admits he's talked with Oscar Mercado joining forces in the outfield.

"We talk about it all the time," Johnson said. "Even in spring training, we're like – we're going to be the future. We always talk about it. When it happens I'll be ready for it."

Both players are great athletes, but Johnson didn't hesitate when asked who was faster.

"Me, for sure, me." he said with a smile.

The Indians outfield could be in good hands if Johnson continues to develop.

"Every time I come here, I always envision myself staying here, being with the big league team," he said.

All-Star festivities continue Monday with the Home Run Derby. The All-Star Game is Tuesday night. Play Ball Park is open through Tuesday at the Convention Center and Mall B. For information on tickets, go here.
