Browns general manager John Dorsey spoke with Johnson’s new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, about the disgruntled back’s future on Tuesday.
“Drew and I had a conversation yesterday, very good conversation,” Dorsey said. “We had the chance to discuss each other’s sides. I had a chance to state my opinions, he had a chance to state his opinions.
“This is the first day of training camp and [Duke] has reported.”
“The business of football I won’t talk about, but he and I have had really good conversations,” Dorsey said.
Over four seasons Johnson has amassed 3,456 combined yards from scrimmage, averaged 4.3 yards per carry, 9.2 yards per reception and scored 13 touchdowns since being selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the team.
“Listen, we’ve said from the very beginning that Duke is a Cleveland Brown,” Kitchens said. “He signed a contract last year. He’s going to be here. He’s going to have a role in our offense and he’s going to have a significant role in our offense.
“He’s a productive player. We’re not giving away good players. We want good players, and if John can get more good players, I’ll take them.”
