CLEVELAND, OH – Week 3 of the NFL season was full of breakout performances. Kyle Allen, Daniel Jones, Taylor Gabriel and Rex Burkhead were just a few of the players that had big games.
Bye weeks start in Week 4, which means waiver claims and bench depth is even more crucial to fielding a successful team.
Here are the players to target on the waiver wire this week:
Rex Burkhead (25%) – Burkhead had 47 rushing yards on 11 carries in Week 3. Sony Michel finished with just 11 yards on nine carries. It’s hard to trust any Patriots running back, but Burkhead has played well enough to get touches on a weekly basis. He’s a batter pass catcher than Michel. James White’s return to the lineup will limit Burkhead’s ceiling, but he’s worth adding in all leagues.
Darrel Williams (7%) – Williams had 109 total yards on nine carries and five receptions. The coaching staff clearly believes in him more than rookie Darwin Thompson. If LeSean McCoy and Damien Williams miss more time due to injury, then (Darrel) Williams is a plug-and-play RB2 in Week 4.
Phillip Dorsett (32%) – Dorsett instantly becomes a WR3 with Antonio Brown’s release. The former first round pick has earned the trust of Tom Brady over the years, which bodes well for his fantasy value. Dorsett has 11 receptions for 148 yards and three touchdowns in two games without Brown. He’s a WR3 with plenty of upside moving forward.
DJ Chark Jr. (41%) – Chark has scored a touchdown in each game this season. He has at least four receptions in each game. His consistency separates him from other waiver wire options at wide receiver. Chark made this list last week, but if he’s still available, he’s certainly worth claiming in most leagues.
Golden Tate (37%) – Tate won’t play until Week 5 against Minnesota, but the veteran could fit in well with rookie quarterback Daniel Jones. Tate gets a boost in PPR leagues and could become a starting option in all formats. Add him to your roster now before he gets reinstated from his four-game suspension.
Wayne Gallman (7%) – Gallman may not be the most talented back in the world, but he should get plenty of touches with Saquon Barkley out with an ankle sprain. There’s always a chance the Giants add a free agent, but until then, Gallman is the top running back to own in New York.
Diontae Johnson (4%) – The Steelers rookie is a perfect bench stash after he had 52-yards receiving and a touchdown against the 49ers. He was targeted six times, which shows Mason Rudolph believes in him. Johnson is nothing more than a WR5 with upside, but he’s worth stashing on your bench.
Dawson Knox (1%) – Knox had three receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. He showed plenty of potential and physical ability, which makes him worth a look in deeper leagues.
Chris Herndon (12%) – Herndon is eligible to return from suspension for the Jets’ Week 6 matchup against the Cowboys. He showed plenty of potential last season and had a great rapport with Sam Darnold who should be back on the field in the near future. Tight end is shallow, which means Herndon is worth a bench stash until he returns from suspension.
Will Dissly (45%) – Dissly didn’t produce in Week 1, but he has 11 receptions for 112 yards and three touchdowns in his last two games. Russell Wilson will spread the ball around, so Dissly will have some down weeks, but he’s worth adding if you need help at tight end. He has TE1 potential.
Other players worth watching:
Daniel Jones (18%), Gardner Minshew (8%), Taylor Gabriel (4%), Kyle Allen (3%), Jamaal Williams (9%), Cole Beasley (8%), DeVante Parker (9%), Rashard Higgins (2%) and Antonio Callaway (1%).
