Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Francisco Lindor suffered an acute left ankle sprain while running the bases in a minor-league game on Tuesday. The three-time All-Star underwent an MRI and the sprain was described as "mild to moderate."
Lindor is already starting the season on the injured list because of a strained right calf. There is no timetable for his return, since he's dealing with multiple injuries.
The 25-year-old posted a .277 batting average, finishing with 38 home runs and 92 RBI last season. Eric Stamets, Max Moroff and Brad Miller are expected to help fill the void with Lindor out.
The Indians start their season on Thursday in Minnesota against the Twins.
