Cleveland, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Gerald McCoy left Cleveland last Friday and Baltimore on Wednesday without signing a contract.
It was thought that he may decide between the two teams but a third has entered the mix – he’s off to visit Carolina next according to multiple reports from NFL Network and ESPN.
McCoy, who was released by the Buccaneers on May 20 after being due $13 million this coming season, will reportedly dine and then visit with the Panthers Thursday night into Friday, like he did with the Browns and Ravens.
The Buccaneers replaced McCoy with Ndamukong Suh after signing him to a one-year deal worth up to $10 million, a savings of $3 million.
McCoy is ranked fourth among defensive tackles with 54.5 sacks, including 6.0 in each of the last two seasons, since 2010 and he’s also racked up 296 tackles, 79 tackles for loss and 140 quarterback hits over that span.
Carolina currently has $8,554,072 in salary cap room according to the NFLPA while the Browns have $32,747,541 in room and Baltimore $13,484,087.
