Head coach Freddie Kitchens plans to wait as long as possible to decide after Robinson reported concussion-like symptoms on Wednesday.
“Not ready to rule him out yet,” Kitchens said.
It’s been expected that Justin McCray would start in Robinson’s place if he can’t go but Kitchens won’t set that in stone either.
“We have not made that decision yet either,” Kitchens said.
McCray started Oct. 27 at New England after Robinson was benched for the game.
“Kind of just wait and see,” Kitchens said. “We are still working through some things there.”
“I am not willing to say that yay or nay right now.”
Njoku believes, like he did last week, that he’s ready to play.
“I hope so. We’ll see,” Njoku said. “It’s not really my call right now.”
Njoku was designated to return from injured reserve on Nov. 18. Njoku broke his right wrist in a 23-3 win over the Jets Sept. 16 and also suffered a concussion on the same play.
“I’m telling you guys that I think I’m ready and I feel great, really good,” Njoku said. “So we’ll just go from there.”
“Yeah, it ain’t been too successful, but they just keep trying,” Williams said, “and I like the competition that the teams are giving me. Hopefully I can make some plays, that’s the main thing, I’m trying to make the plays.”
Williams, who has 2 pass breakups combined in the last 3 games, feels like he’s starting to hit his stride but knows he needs to do more.
“I’m playing pretty well,” Williams said. “I ain’t made no plays. But as far as the targets and the catches that they’ve been throwing at me, I feel like my percentages are good. I’ve just got to make plays on the balls that come my way.”
Williams is appealing a $28,075 fine for his hit on JuJu Smith-Schuster that saw the Steelers receiver suffer a concussion. Smith-Schuster has been ruled out for Sunday.
“It wasn’t a call, so I didn’t expect to get fined for it,” Williams said. “I guess you hit a big-time player in this league, they’re going to go back and see how the tackle was. Like I said, my initial contact was not like to take his head off. I was just trying to make a legal football tackle.”
Williams was also among the 33 players fined for the end of game melee, which he is also appealing. He got docked $3,507 for “entering the fighting area” along with 28 other players, but that hit on Smith-Schuster still bothers him because it was unintentional.
“I’m not out there trying to hurt nobody and take them away from feeding their family,” Williams said. “I pray he has a speedy recovery and just get better and get back out on that field.”
“We are just kind of playing it by ear right now and just seeing what we get,” Kitchens said. “We have a couple more of days. We will see how he is and make a determination then.”
