CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns activated punter Jamie Gillan from the reserve/COVID list and placed quarterback Garrett Gilbert on the reserve/COVOID list among four roster moves made Monday afternoon.

Gillan told NFL Network last week he tested positive July 9 and again last week after going through the testing after reporting for camp.

The addition of Gilbert, No. 3 on the depth chart, to the reserve/COVID list raises concerns since he had passed the initial testing and began the acclimation period last week with Baker Mayfield and Case Keenum.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski continues to hold all meetings – position and team – virtually in an effort to keep players separated off the field as much as possible.

“The quarterbacks in particular are spread out way more than six feet, but every position we have done that,” Stefanski said Thursday. “Every position, we are taking this very seriously in terms of adhering to the protocol and going beyond it. We have four quarterbacks on our roster, and the meeting room they are in can fit way more than four players.”

Running back Brian Herrien was waived and safety Karl Joseph was placed on active/PUP with a foot injury.

Joseph signed one-year, $2.5 million free agent deal in the spring and was expected to be a starter.

The Browns roster is at 79 following the moves.
