CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Former Cleveland Browns left tackle Joe Thomas and receiver Andrew Hawkins have joined the growing list of current and former athletes to pledge financial support for COVID-19 relief efforts in northeast Ohio.

Thomas and Hawkins announced on their most recent podcast, The ThomaHawk Show, a match donation program up to $50,000 to benefit the Children’s Hunger Alliance.

The former Browns icons hope to raise $100,000 with the campaign to “help feed children in Ohio communities that are being impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.”

With schools out and businesses shut down, the CHA has stepped up efforts to help feed children in need.

“The urgency to feed these children is even greater as a result of the coronavirus,” the CHA said in a statement. “The statewide organization is committed to helping feed children who have lost access to meals by working closely with community partners to help meet the needs of children in Ohio.”

In addition to founding the podcast with Hawkins, Thomas, recently named to the 2010’s NFL All-Decade team and presumed future Hall of Famer, is an analyst for NFL Network. Hawkins, who played six seasons with the Bengals and Browns, also works for NFL Media in a multi-platform role.
