CLEVELAND, OH – The Indians activated José Ramírez from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. The 27-year-old will hit sixth and play third base against the White Sox.
Ramírez faced live pitching and went through an extensive workout on Saturday. The Indians were impressed with Ramírez’s performance.
“He’s doing good,” manager Terry Francona said on Sunday. “The hope is – and again, it’s not in stone – that he plays on Tuesday. I think it’s realistic.”

The Indians’ lineup could use Ramírez, who posted a .321/.372/.705 slash line with six home runs and 20 RBI in the month of August (22 games) before his injury.

Cleveland trails Tampa Bay by a half game in the American League wild card race. The Indians hope adding Ramírez will be enough to get them into the playoffs.
