CLEVELAND, OH – The Indians activated José Ramírez from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. The 27-year-old will hit sixth and play third base against the White Sox.
“He’s doing good,” manager Terry Francona
said on Sunday. “The hope is – and again, it’s not in stone – that he plays on Tuesday. I think it’s realistic.”
The Indians’ lineup could use Ramírez, who posted a .321/.372/.705 slash line with six home runs and 20 RBI in the month of August (22 games) before his injury.
Cleveland trails Tampa Bay by a half game in the American League wild card race. The Indians hope adding Ramírez will be enough to get them into the playoffs.
