Cleveland, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Running back Kareem Hunt underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia Thursday morning but is expected to make a full recovery in time for his return from an eight-game suspension.

On Wednesday the NFL denied the Browns’ request for Hunt to have access to the team facility during his suspension, which takes affect Saturday at 4 p.m. when he’s placed on the reserve suspended list.

Hunt, signed by the Browns in February, was suspended in the wake of multiple league investigations into Hunt’s off-the-field behavior which included Hunt being caught on security video shoving and kicking a woman outside his apartment in downtown Cleveland in February of 2018.

The publishing of that footage by TMZ.com led to his immediate release by the Kansas City Chiefs last November.

Browns general manager John Dorsey drafted Hunt, who led the NFL in rushing as a rookie, in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft while serving in the same capacity with the Chiefs.

Hunt will be eligible to make his Browns regular season debut Nov. 10 against the Buffalo Bills.
