CLEVELAND, OH — Cavaliers rookie Kevin Porter Jr. suffered a left knee sprain against the Timberwolves on Sunday night and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. He underwent an MRI on Monday morning to determine the severity of the injury.
Porter's knee buckled underneath him during the third quarter of Sunday's game. He collapsed instantly and was in obvious pain.

Porter was down on the court for several minutes before being helped off by head trainer Steve Spiro and teammate Tyler Cook.

John Henson went back to the locker room to see how Porter was doing shortly after he suffered the injury.

“I just went to check on him because me and him are fairly close,” Henson said after the game. “Especially being on the court, trying to look for him, we’ve kind of got a little connection going out there as well. It hurts for me to see him as a friend and also as a basketball player. I love playing with him.

“He’s doing fine — as good as you can be with a potential knee injury. I don’t think it’s too serious personally, but you never know.”

Porter, 19, is averaging 8.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this season.

“He’s in good spirits," Darius Garland said. "That’s how KP is, he’s always in a good mood. He didn’t look any different.”

The Cavaliers selected Porter with the No. 30 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
