Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Kyrie Irving will not face his former team Wednesday night in Boston.
The Celtics’ guard is out with flu-like symptoms the team announced.
The Cavs, who are floundering this season following the departure of LeBron James to the Lakers with the worst record in the NBA at 9-39, traded Irving to Boston in August 2017 after the guard demanded to be dealt.
Recently Irving called James to apologize and clear the air between them.
The Celtics are also expected to rest Al Horford Wednesday night.
The injury-riddled Cavs will be without Tristan Thompson for a fourth straight game. David Nwaba, Larry Nance Jr, Kevin Love John Henson are also out.
In the first meeting between the teams Irving scored 29 points in a 128-95 Celtics victory Nov. 30 in Boston.
