CLEVELAND, Ohio – Tyronn Lue might not reunite with LeBron James in Los Angeles after all.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports the Lakers have reached an "impasse" with Lue during negotations.
Discussions have included talks on contract and assistant coaching staff, sources said. Among Lakers hopes on a Lue staff: Jason Kidd. He made a strong impression with management in his head coaching interview and had a productive history w/ Bucks developing young talent. https://t.co/uQxTjqWAm7

May 8, 2019 Once Monty Williams agreed to be the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns, all indications pointed to Lue working out a deal with Los Angeles. Instead, negotations soured and the Lakers are still looking for their next coach.
Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times
reports Lue's representatives thanked the Lakers and have moved on. If that's the case, then it puts the Lakers in an awkward spot with their two top candidates no longer in play for the job.
Lue was fired by the Cavaliers in October after the team started 0-6. The Cavs still owe Lue over $10 million. He was an associate head coach from 2014-2016, before being named head coach when they fired David Blatt.
Lue posted a 128-83 record with Cleveland and went to the NBA Finals three-straight times, including in 2016 when the Cavaliers won the championship.
