Cleveland, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Browns extended their primetime winning streak to three games with their 23-3 victory over the New York Jets Monday night.
It was the earliest the Browns won a game in a season since a Week 2 victory in 2015 and it was the earliest they won on the road in a season since 2013.
Let’s hand out some game balls.
Odell Beckham Jr. – He can wear whatever watch or visor he wants. Beckham was spectacular, flashing his patented 1-handed catch on the opening drive that set up a field goal and he delivered the knockout punch by torching Gregg Williams entire defense for an 89-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Six catches, 161 yards, a score. Not a bad night at the office.
Nick Chubb – Although Chubb averaged by his standard a sub-par 3.4 yards per carry, he finished with 62 yards on 18 carries and added four catches for 36 yards in the win. The back’s 19-yard touchdown run gave the Browns a 13-0 advantage.
Myles Garrett – Setting a career high with 3.0 sacks gets you a game ball, even after committing four penalties. Garrett leads the NFL with 5.0 sacks through two games. Garrett loves him some Jets quarterbacks. He has 7.0 sacks in three games against them in his career. The Pro Bowl defensive end is the first Brown to record multiple sacks in back-to-back games since linebacker Jamir Miller in 2001.
Joe Schobert – The linebacker is a tackling machine. Schobert led the team with 13 tackles – 10 of them solo – and he forced a fumble.
Austin Seibert – The rookie kicker led the Browns in scoring with 11 points. He went 5-5 Monday night with two PATs and three field goals – 25, 48 and 43 yards.
Freddie Kitchens – Sure the offense looks disjointed and out of sorts, but Kitchens is off the schneid and in the win column in his second game. He joins previous head coaches in the expansion era Mike Pettine, Pat Shurmur, Romeo Crennel and Butch Davis in wining their second game and starting off 1-1.
