Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to close for summer Saturday

Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse is set to close its doors for the Summer Saturday to make way for the completion of the $185 million renovation of the 26-year old building.

The arena box office will also close and the Cavs team shop is scheduled to close May 14 at 5 p.m. The RTA walkway from Tower City will remain open for Indians home games.

Upon completion of the two-year project, the building will reopen Sept. 30 when Grammy Award winners and Akron natives The Black Keys are scheduled to perform.

Work on the exterior is nearly complete, including the massive glass curtain wall along Huron and wrapping around Ontario that includes 1,475 panels and is nearly eight stories tall, has transformed the look of the of the building.

Construction crews will complete work to expand and redesign the concourses, concession stands, restrooms and other public spaces over the summer.

Multiple new hospitality areas, suites, the Cavs locker room, players lounge, training rooms, locker rooms and south entrance have already been added or remodeled since the project began.
