Cleveland, OH (92.3 The Fan) – The Indians outhit the Rangers on Monday night, unfortunately for the Tribe, it wasn’t enough to get the win.
Elvis Andrus scored on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning and that was enough for the Rangers to pull out the 1-0 win.
The Indians finished with seven hits, but left seven runners on base. They had multiple chances to score runs, but were never able to get over the hump.
They had runners on first and second base in the first inning, but José Ramírez grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.
The Indians threatened again in the seventh. They had runners on first and second with no outs. Franmil Reyes flied out, Roberto Perez struck out and Francisco Lindor grounded out to end the threat.
They had one more chance in the ninth, as Ramírez hit a leadoff double. Tyler Naquin bunted him to third, but Jason Kipnis grounded out and Reyes flied out to end the game.
Starter Aaron Civale was great for the Tribe. He allowed one run and three hits in six innings of work. He issued one walk and finished with seven strikeouts.
It was Civale’s second start of the season. He’s allowed one run in 12 innings. The 24-year-old was drafted in the third round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Shane Bieber (fourth round) and Zach Plesac (12th round) were also selected in 2016.
