A-Rod was living his best life at T-Wolves play-in game

Nothing says NBA Playoffs quite like Alex Rodriguez sitting courtside in Minnesota, cheering on his beloved Timberwolves against the visiting Los Angeles Clippers. A-Rod, of course, joined a group led by e-commerce entrepreneur Marc Lore in purchasing the T-Wolves from majority owner Glen Taylor last summer. Rodriguez had previously been in negotiations to buy the Mets when they were for sale in 2020, though the Wilpons would ultimately sell their controlling stake to hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen instead.

The 46-year-old attended Tuesday’s Western Conference “play-in” game at Target Center alongside fitness model Kat Padgett, who also accompanied him to Lambeau Field for a Packers playoff game in January.

A-Rod seemed pretty fired up about the Wolves clinching their first playoff berth in four years, overcoming a 10-point, fourth-quarter deficit in front of a packed house in Minneapolis. Remarkably, Minnesota’s comeback came largely without the help of All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns, who fouled out with over seven minutes to go in regulation.

It’s been a busy week for the former slugger, who debuted his new “Kay-Rod” simulcast with longtime Yankees announcer Michael Kay Sunday night on ESPN2. That came days after A-Rod’s ex, popstar and actress Jennifer Lopez, announced her engagement to Ben Affleck of Good Will Hunting and Argo fame. Rodriguez also caught flak for his recent appearance on The Pivot podcast with former NFL defensive back Ryan Clark (now of ESPN), laughably calling his hometown of Kendall, Florida (a Miami suburb) “the hood.”

The seventh-seeded T-Wolves begin their opening-round series with Memphis Saturday at 3:30 PM ET.
