(670 The Score) Eric Bieniemy has reached a deal with the Bears to become their new running backs coach, according to multiple reports Saturday afternoon.
The 55-year-old Bieniemy most recently was UCLA’s offensive coordinator in 2024 but has extensive NFL coaching experience prior to that. Bieniemy worked in Kansas City from 2013-’22, initially as the Chiefs’ running backs coach before serving as their offensive coordinator for his final five seasons there. Bears general manager Ryan Poles worked in the Chiefs’ front office for all but one year of Bieniemy’s time there. The Chiefs won two Super Bowls during Bieniemy’s tenure in Kansas City.
Bieniemy was the Commanders’ offensive coordinator and assistant head coach in 2023 before heading to the college ranks for a year. He also worked as the Minnesota Vikings’ running backs coach from 2006-‘10.
In other Bears coaching staff news Saturday, tight ends coach Jim Dray will be retained, the Tribune and Sun-Times reported.
