Big Ben 'can't believe' Heinz Field name change

The retired Steelers quarterback is another that doesn't seem to be a fan of Acrisure Stadium

You can add the man who put Heinz Field on the map to the list of people that are not happy with the name change.

Retired quarterback Ben Roethlisberger posted to his official BigBen7 Twitter account.

“I can’t believe it, it doesn’t seem right or real!” Roethlisberger said on Monday evening. Home will always be Heinz Field! I will never forget the last game, and all the amazing fans at FOREVER HEINZ!”

The reaction to Acrisure Stadium so far has been met with negative reaction from Pittsburghers who thought that Heinz Field was the perfect sponsor for the Steelers home with Heinz being a local company, even though the company was bought by Kraft in 2015. Kraft Heinz headquarters is now in Chicago.

Heinz said in a statement after the Acrisure news was made official:

While we worked diligently with the Steelers for several months around a new naming rights deal, they found a new partner willing to pay significantly more than we could justify. While our name will no longer be on the stadium, Heinz will remain a significant, long-term sponsor of the Steelers and we’re excited to announce the details of our new partnership in the days ahead.

No word on what that means for the Ketchup bottles on the scoreboard, though there have been reports they have been removed. the company may continue to sponsor the "Heinz Red Zone," which is when the Steelers pa

Roethlisberger is the last starting quarterback to play at the facility while it was called Heinz Field. He had 92 wins at home.

That’s the most wins by a single quarterback at one facility in NFL history.

Roethlisberger played in three of the four AFC Championship games Heinz Field has hosted.

He helped the Steelers win two of them over the Baltimore Ravens in 2008 and New York Jets in 2010.
