Both McDermott and Beane joined the Bills in the 2017 offseason, with Beane joining the organization after the 2017 NFL Draft.

Since taking over as head coach, McDermott has ranked third in Bills history in wins behind Hall-of-Famer Marv Levey (123) and Lou Saban (70).
As for Beane, he was tasked right off the bat to re-tool the team and their salary cap situation, while also finding a franchise quarterback of the future. Some of Beane's finest moments as general manager was the drafting of All-Pro quarterback Josh Allen in 2018m, along with trading for wide receiver Stefon Diggs in 2020, and signing pass rusher Von Miller in 2022.
Beane also earned NFL Executive of the Year honors from Sporting News, PFWA and Pro Football Focus in 2020, becoming the first Bills executive to earn the honor since Bill Polian in 1991.
Before arriving in Buffalo, both Beane and McDermott were with the Carolina Panthers organization. McDermott served as defensive coordinator on Ron Rivera's staff, while Beane was the assistant general manager to Dave Gettleman.
