Derek Carr has been given permission by the Raiders to visit the Saints, a team that will be on the prowl for a quarterback upgrade this offseason.
The Jets have also been linked to Carr given their glaring need for a veteran quarterback, but WFAN host Boomer Esiason believes Carr to New York simply isn’t happening.
“He doesn’t want to come here, because the Jets still have hopes out that Zach Wilson may become something,” Boomer said. “For the Jets, it’s gotta be an Aaron Rodgers two-year type of thing, Baker Mayfield, Andy Dalton, that’s what we’re talking about.”
That realization isn’t inspiring much hope in his co-host Gregg Giannotti, as he doesn’t believe Rodgers is coming to New York, meaning Gang Green will be picking from the bottom of the barrel for a position that could determine the team’s level of contention next season.
“Every day that goes by, it’s less and less likely that Aaron Rodgers becomes a Jet,” Gio said. “Now you’re telling me Derek Carr’s not gonna look at the Jets as a desirable destination, and we’re gonna be stuck with one of these other guys we’ve been talking about.
