VIEW FROM PITTSBURGH: Bronny James to Duquesne not as outlandish as you think

It’s started out as a “it’s not going to happen, but it’s fun to talk about” Pittsburgh sports topic could actually have legs.

While it isn’t a good one, much like Jim Carrey in “Dumb and Dumber”… “So, you’re telling me there’s a chance” that LeBron’s son Bronny James comes to Duquesne.

I appeared Bronny was entering the transfer portal. That hasn’t been confirmed by LeBron says that his son has “tough decisions to make” with reports he is leaving USC.

The PM Team discussed it on Wednesday, with Chris Mueller saying “it makes sense” for both Duquesne and Bronny.

Duquesne just elevated LeBron’s former high school teammate Dru Joyce, who played and coached under recently retired Dukes head coach Keith Dambrot.

“There is no other place in the county I think LeBron would trust his son’s development more than Duquesne,” said Mueller, pointing out Joyce is a good friend of the NBA superstar.

Andrew Fillipponi says he asked someone who is tied to the “LeBron universe” about the possibility of Bronny coming to Pittsburgh and they told Poni there is a pretty good chance.

The response Poni got to asking “more than a 50/50 chance”, the person told him it depends were LeBron plays next year.

That could mean if LeBron returns to Cleveland to a third time, Duquesne is possible.

Mueller says that would be a good move for Bronny.

He would be close to his dad but not in the same city like they are currently in Los Angeles and Bronny would be a huge draw for the Dukes.

When it comes to Bronny as a player, Mueller says that he doesn’t think he’s a power 5-type player yet and still has some work to do.

Some time a Duquesne could help that development.

Another positive for Bronny.

Duquesne is still a small school and in the Atlantic 10, but after an upset win and an A10 championship, they are more known compared to just a month ago.

Another connection, LeBron has a connection to the Fenway Sports Group, the owners of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
