Celtics issue injury update on Kristaps Porzingis

The Boston Celtics on Tuesday issued the following injury update on center Kristaps Porzingis:

Celtics Center Kristaps Porzingis suffered a torn medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in his left leg at 3:27 of the third quarter of Game 2. The injury is unrelated to Porzingis’s prior right calf injury. After consultation with numerous specialists regarding this rare injury, his availability for upcoming games will be determined day-to-day.

Porzingis was seen stretching out the leg -- which, again, is not the same leg as his calf injury -- on the bench. He did play 3:26 in the fourth quarter after the injury and both Porzingis and coach Joe Mazzulla said after the game that Porzingis would be fine.

Porzingis previously missed 10 playoff games with the aforementioned right calf injury. He returned for Game 1 of the NBA Finals and was excellent, posting 20 points in 21 minutes while coming off the bench. He had 12 points in 23 minutes in Game 2.

Game 3 is set for Wednesday night in Dallas.
