For the fourth time in the last five years, the Kansas City Chiefs are in the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs got the job done in a 17-10 victory on the road over the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 241 yards and a touchdown, completing 30 of 39 passes while connecting with Travis Kelce for 11 receptions on 116 yards and a 19-yard touchdown on the first drive of the game, which set the tone early.
But if was the Chiefs’ defense that was most impressive.
After allowing a touchdown on Baltimore’s second drive of the game, the Chiefs stifled Lamar Jackson and the Ravens defense, holding them to just three more points the rest of the game, which came with less than three minutes remaining.
The Chiefs forced three turnovers, including two in the end zone to completely turn the game in their favor.
Jackson finished with just 20 completions on 37 attempts and 272 yards and a touchdown with an interception and fumble. He was also sacked four times.
The biggest play came at the start of the fourth quarter when Jackson connected with Zay Flowers for what appeared to be his second touchdown of the game. However, the ball was knocked loose as Flowers dove for the end zone, with Kansas City recovering.
On Baltimore’s next possession, Jackson threw an interception in the end zone from the Kansas City 25-yard line and 6:45 remaining.
While the Ravens still had a glimmer of hope, they were forced to settle for a field goal the next possession while Mahomes found Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a third down conversion to ice the game.
