Browns select DE Isaiah Thomas and C Dawson Deaton in the seventh round of NFL Draft

BEREA, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Browns continued their Sooners run Saturday by selecting Oklahoma defensive end Isaiah Thomas in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The team also selected Texas Tech center Dawson Deaton in the seventh round Saturday with their final pick – No. 246 overall.

Thomas joins sixth round pick receiver Michael Woods II and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey who were taken earlier in the day.

The selection of Thomas, who started 22 games the last two seasons for the Sooners, was made possible from the David Blough trade with the Lions last year.

Thomas split time at defensive end and defensive tackle where he totaled 81 tackles – 26 got loss, 18 1/2 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and seven pass breakups.

Getting Deaton, who started 33 games over the final three years and was a captain the last two for the Red Raiders, was a result of Case Keenum being traded to the Bills in March.
