BEREA, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Like many of his colleagues around the NFL, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is taking no chances and will sit his veteran quarterback for their preseason opener.
Baker Mayfield will not play Saturday night in Jacksonville.
“Baker’s not going to play in this game,” Stefanski said prior to Wednesday’s practice, which was closed to the public and moved indoors due to inclement weather.
It stands to reason that backup quarterback Case Keenum will be called upon to start in Mayfield’s place and many other Browns starters will also get the night off.
“I’ll let you guys know [Thursday],” Stefanski said. “I’ll give you a rundown.”
